How can architectural education be perceived outside of the typical university classroom?

The ASOC project proposes that architectural education involves experiences of living together, getting connected with real people in rural communities and their needs, and responding through various immersive workshops, including short construction projects that leave something behind to the community. These ideas were juxtaposed with others from recent visits at universities beyond Europe (Ghana, Chile, and Ecuador) which propose various pedagogies in architectural education. Through sharing various experiences from the two ASOC workshops and from other environments, in this presentation the audience was invited to participate in a journey, and on reflections about architectural education, as well as education at large.

Nicholas Anastasopoulos is an Associate Professor at the School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens, which is the partner university in Greece. The audience involved several Erasmus students at the School of Architecture at NTUA and the public.
